Could You Stick With it For 50 Years?!

The Church Office received the following prayer update from our Missionaries to Peru, Rudy & Lorraine Johnson. You will see they celebrated the 50th anniversary of their missionary service on July 6. Most of us will hardly stick with anything for 5 years, or 5 days, or sometimes, even 5 minutes! But Rudy & Lorraine have faithfully served the Lord, following His leading to a far away land, bringing His message of love and salvation through Jesus Christ, laboring, loving, praying and sacrificing for 50 years. These are amazing people, and we thank God for their example to us of commitment and faithfulness. Their prayer letter follows:

“Cusco, Peru ~ July, 2010

Dear Friends,

This first week of July has two very important dates for us. First, on Saturday, July 3 we were able to reopen our doors to the public, after the flood that we experienced on January 26. These 5 months have taken a lot of physical labor and we thank those teams that came to help us. They all did a good job.

Saturday, we had an attendance of 904 that were involved in Sports and Bible Classes. We have seen 17 decisions for Christ during this week.

The second important date was July 6. It was on July 6, 1960 that we arrived in Lima with 2 small children to begin our missionary ministry in Peru. It has been a good 50 years.
