How BIG is Your God?

I’ve been asked a few times before, “How Big Is Your God?” Well let me tell you how BIG my God is.

Planning a homeless outreach ministry can be very difficult and draining on the spirit, mind and soul. This past week, I felt the sting of that reality. I felt that God, as great and as mighty as He is, had left this ministry and passion to help others on my heart. Yet, how it would work out and stay afloat was all on me. I felt frustrated and depressed because none of the usual methods of watching things come together were working. I wondered if God had forgotten about this ministry suddenly…I just felt abandoned. Nothing I tried was coming together to make our outing on March 7th work. I had 25+ people from Everglades Community Church coming to help, had no supplies, no money, no way to make the ministry work. All I had was a desire, and calling on my heart and seemingly no support anywhere.

So it’s Thursday, noon time, 33 hours before we are supposed to go out to minister and I have nothing. Out of desperation I’m sitting at work and I cry out to God…please Lord, I don’t want to have to cancel tomorrow’s outing. I know this ministry is NOT about me, but ALL about you…I cannot make this happen alone, but I know that as Matt 19:26b says, “...with God ALL things are possible.” So God, I’m going to continue to operate in faith that you’ll provide and tomorrow will go according to plan.

About 12:05pm, I sent out a last ditch email to a few teachers at The Hollywood Christian Academy, basically asking for help, prayer and encouragement. Little did I realize just how much (Eph 3:20) would be proven true by God doing more than I could have asked for or imagined through my prayer and these teachers.

By 3 p.m. I had enough funding to go and purchase all the supplies I needed to supply the ‘care packages’ for the outing tomorrow. The following day, in less than a full 24 hours, I was again blessed to receive more from God’s people and was now able to ensure payment for all food, transportation and miscellaneous expenses. By the time 9 p.m. came on March 7th, God had provided the ministry THE most financial support, food, people, supplies and prayer it has EVER had…and all I could do was sit back, smile and say, God…you are good.

As this ministry forges ahead, please keep us in your prayers. I thank God for speaking to the hearts of ALL of you that have helped the T.O.U.C.H. Project reach the people of Miami as it has this far. I know we serve a powerful God, who seeks to give us MORE than we can ever ask for or imagine. As with our recent sermon series at Oasis, chasing lions can be difficult, but when in doubt remember what Romans 8:31b says, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Situations in life can get us down, but when you can never seem to humanly find a way out…just pause, and ask yourself the question…how BIG is YOUR God?
