Oasis Stories: Polly Kennedy
405 days ago by Jenn Collins
Wow! I cannot believe how time flies! I have been attending Oasis Church for the past 11 years. During this time I have served in the Levites ministry, as a greeter on the First Impression team, as a committee group leader, on the Women’s Ministry team and through March of this year on the Church council as treasurer.
I am one of eight children: four sisters and three brothers. My identical twin sister, Patsy, also attends Oasis Church along with my Mother, Father, two younger sisters, my brother-in-law and my nieces and nephews. God is first in my life and next to him is my family; they are very important to me. I consider us to be a very close-knit family and we are always together, whether it’s vacation, celebrations or any other activities. I am very blessed for the love that we share with each other. You can count on having a support group for whatever you need.
My family was raised in the church, and at the age of thirteen I accepted Christ into my life while attending church with my Aunt, and decided to give my life fully to the Lord and serve him.
Last year one the ladies in my community group was diagnosed with cancer. At first it was very hard for me to deal with, as I had so many questions as to why God would let this happen to such a sweet person. However, over the past year, God has opened my eyes to so much and taught me how to deal with this by using my faith and trusting in Him. Not only has He shown me His tender love for this lady, but He has also revealed the strength of our group so that we could be there to support and encourage her along the way. As a group leader, this has been a humbling experience for me. It also confirmed to me that no matter what obstacles I may face, God will be there to pick me up me and carry me when I cannot walk or understand the why’s about life. Because of this experience I am better able to deal with what I may be facing in life each day; as I know My God is able to see me through.
