Pray for Haiti!

My intended Prayer Digest Letter to Inner Circle Prayer Team members changed yesterday with the sad crisis in Haiti. It is obvious that this letter is focused on challenging us all to pray for the rescue and provision for our neighbors and family members. This poor country that has faced so many tragic events in recent years has now been hit with the unimaginable…a 7.0 Earthquake.
With so many Haitians in our church at all three campuses, it’s overwhelming to try to even imagine what we could do to make a difference in any measurable way. But we can. While they are not asking for folks to go to such an uncertain and dangerous place at this point, we can do several things. Take time periodically during the day to pray for our Haitian friends. Secondly, if you know a Haitian, call, visit, email or text them, to see if there is anything you can do for them, or their family personally. It might just be the asking that they need, the personal prayer for them and their family. Third, we can give towards helping them. This Sunday and in all services this week ahead, beginning with our first service of the week Saturday night, we will take a special offering…every penny of which will go towards helping the Haitian people in their crumbled, hurting country.
Our State Convention has a very active Disaster Relief Ministry with hundreds trained in all areas for times like this. They will take trips down there. But our Florida Baptist Convention also has staff in Haiti since it is a partner to our Florida Convention. We actually partner with 895 churches in Haiti through our Florida Convention. At times like this, it allows us to be involved and know our monies and help will go directly to pastors and ministries who are touching the lives in their neighborhoods. So, over and above your tithes, bring a cash offering this Sunday and next week and all of it will go directly to the relief efforts!!
Please Pray, Pray, Pray!!
