Over the past few months I’ve seen, experienced and felt God move in mighty ways through the T.O.U.C.H. Project. This past Friday I saw God move in a way I hadn’t encountered before.
While talking with a homeless gentleman about Jesus, he reached into his back pocket and pulled out his wallet. Surprised, I told him we don’t accept donations, this is our spiritual act of worship and we voluntarily want to serve him. However, he wouldn’t hear it. Five minutes into telling him we can’t take his money the gentleman said, “in the bible it says when you have, you should tithe and give back to God. I don’t go to church and you are as close as I will get to that, so you see, I have to give to you. I don’t have much but I know God will bless me for this and you all for what you do.” Sheepishly, I accepted his donation and stood amazed that even in the depth of despair, of being without a roof, A/C, running water and more…this man was so intent on believing that God hadn’t forgotten about him. Out of the depths of his heart He wanted to share the little he had and give back to God for all that He’d done for him.
Is that not the goal of us as Christians? To continue to live with a heart of gratitude giving back to God, loving our neighbors, worshiping Him with our praises and more? Yes, that should be the longing of our heart.
The T.O.U.C.H Project has grown tremendously due to the prayers and support of a loving and giving church family. We are currently in the process of joining with Calvary Chapel Kendall to be able to reach more people with the message of the Gospel at least once a month. Please keep us all in prayer as we follow the leading of God’s will for this ministry.
If you are interested in supporting this ministry, please contact me via email (J_Bacon21@hotmail.com or warrenc@visitoasis.org). We will always need cases of bottled water and packages of tube/crew/athletic socks. Thank you for all your prayers and support thus far! God Bless…
