Words of Wisdom

We’ve all received words of wisdom in our lifetime. Not all of it is biblical, though some is biblically-based; in fact, most of the advice and wisdom we’ve heard was probably passed down through family generations.
We want to hear it. Whether it’s bits of wisdom you’ve heard your whole life, just recently or something you’ve made up, share it in the comments below. We’ll be reading some live at our services over the next couple of weeks!

It doesn’t matter what everyone else is doing…. It matters what you do!
Don’t question in the dark what is revealed in the light!

“If love conquers all, then man is as strong as he can love. He who loves little is the weakest among men, for it was love that kept the strongest man that ever walked on the face of the planet on the cross.”
My family always said: Show me the man’s friends and I’ll show you the man…. also said…if you want to get something very important done…find the busiest person in the world and ask him/her to do it…it will get . Meaning people with a lot of time on their hands are too busy doing nothing and they can’t help with important stuff..HAHAHA!!!
My grandma said….oh what web we weave when we first start to deceive..
In Cuba, we say…Children are born with bread underneath their arms…this means, you don’t have to abort your baby…Jesus will make a way to feed him/her.
My mom use to say…I’m not bit more studying you than I am Adam’s House Cat…that means I was getting on her nerves for no reason:)
Another good one: Sweep the dirt from around your own front door and leave other people’s dirt alone…
Here’s a super good one…moms say, always wear clean underwear..in case you end up in the emergency room:)
The last saying but the greatest saying: The Leaning Tree(an old person)ain’t always the first to fall…meaning, the old person might be old and weak but he/she is strong in Jesus Chrsit thus able to withstand and out last any young person…
I told this to my kids ‘til they were probably sick of hearing it: “Daniel purposed in his heart not to defile himself”.
My dad gave me the BEST advice I’ve ever heard. He said, “A perfect man walked the Earth but even he couldn’t please everyone and he was the son of God. Donna, Jesus himself couldn’t make everyone happy, so stop worrying about other people & concentrate on yourself. When you’re happy with yourself then those who matter… are happy as well.”

Just because someone doesn’t love you the way you want to be loved doesn’t mean they’re not loving you with everything they have.

Two sayings that stick out to me a lot. The first is “ People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.” The second & I got this from my 3rd graders when I was teaching (kids are amazing) “you get what you get & you don’t get upset.” Isn’t that something? They NEVER fought over crayons.

“Camaron que se duerme, se lo lleva la corriente” or “Shrimp who falls asleep is swept away by the current” may be similar to “Strike when the iron is hot” or simply put…Take action when needed!!!
“Dime con quien andas y te dire quien eres” literal translation:“Tell me who you hang out with and I’ll tell you who you are…”
“Haz el bien, sin mirar a quien” or… “Do good without looking at who receives the good deed!!”
“Al que madruga, Dios lo ayuda” or… To those who wake up early, God will help them accomplish a lot”
“The grass is always greener….over the septic tank”. Then, there’s always the one that sticks in my memory because I didn’t listen to mom’s words of wisdom—-“Put on your coat; it’s pneumonia weather!” I didn’t; hence I did.

You’re never as good as your best day and you’re never as bad as your worst.

Faith, when everything is as you want it to be, is not true faith. It is only when our lives are falling apart that we have a chance to make our faith real.
Forgiveness comes from an open heart, without condition, or it does not come at all.
