Can prayer be conditional?

Is Prayer, conditional? I would love to say God puts NO conditions on prayer! I would love to say there is only one verse we should live by in prayer..... ‘Ask and you will receive...’ That sounds great, but unfortunately there are conditions on most prayers and how God answers them. Truth.

One example is in Psalm 50:14-15. As is the case many times, God’s people were being disobedient and he was reading them the riot act. He then launches into this promise..... verse 15:  "Call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me."

He tells His people, even as upset as He is at them, if they will Pray and call on Him in their time of need, He will deliver. That’s pretty neat.

But let’s go back to verse 14 He sets a condition,  " Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High..."

God actually tells them there is a condition: ‘Give offerings of Thanks.’ God expected His people, then and NOW, to Give our offerings of Thanks first, before we come for His blessings. WOW...! I had never noticed that before. So many want God’s supernatural answers to their prayers but they make excuses why they don’t Tithe, or don’t give offerings to Him through His church that Jesus Himself established.

So it’s a good lesson for all of us, before we pray for God’s supernatural answers to our prayers, check the checkbook and bank register and see if we have met His conditions for deliverance. That is not ‘pastor talk’ for bigger offerings. That is God-Talk for Bigger Blessings! Yeah!! I like that. Some of you and those you know might just have had a spiritual breakthrough realizing there might be something standing between you and God.

By the way, note in verse 15, another condition at the end... “and you will honor me!” Two conditions for having our prayers answered. It’s not just because we do not ask God that sometimes we don't have our prayers answered. Could it also be that we have not met His condition of Giving back to Him in thanksgiving, and honoring Him. NOW that is POWERFUL STUFF right there.

Thanks for being my Pastor’s Prayer Partners. I know I say this all the time but you lift me so much when I see you come in on Sunday mornings at 8:30 a.m. to pray; and then to see you join our worship team and pastors... It’s one of the highlights of my week!

I hope those of you on the list for this 1st Sunday of the month will be here this Sunday at 8:30 a.m. You will lift my spirits, our pastors’ and worship team’s spirit. Not only that but you will lift your prayers to God for Oasis Church that will gather all day in Worship. Thanks again.

This a great piece when it comes to Prayer and how they are answered. I have learnt my lesson as I pray in truth and in spirit for my prayers to be answered.
