"Come to Me"

"Come to Me…" all those who are burdened, discouraged and need some relief, Jesus tells us in Matthew 11:28. We are familiar with this passage. That is a Prayer Devotional in itself, and we have used it, but in the Old Testament God was just as willing for His children to come to HIM even when they were disobedient. This Amazing Grace and Love of our Father jumped out at me last week when I was reading Isaiah for my daily devotions.

Isaiah 30:18, Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you;
    therefore he will rise up to show you compassion.
For the LORD is a God of justice.
    Blessed are all who wait for him!
19 People of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. How gracious he will be when you cry for help! As soon as he hears, he will answer you.

What a beautiful promise and picture of God’s love for His people…a promise that when we pray, He hears and shows us His graciousness.
Just a little context for this passage, and I hope you will read the entire Chapter 30.
Israel, as usual, was disobedient, hard-hearted and had forgotten their God. Another sad chapter in their history, but even then the God of justice was also the God of mercy and love, and promised if they would come back to Him and cry out to Him, He would hear and answer them.
What an incredible God we serve and have as our creator and Savior. We can never get too far from him, and go too deep, where He is not there to forgive us, receive us, and to hear our prayers. Chew on that today.

God bless you and thanks so much for being my Prayer Partner. It means so much to me and to Oasis Church, and especially to those you pray daily for on the Prayer Digest.
