"Giving Thanks", yes I know Thanksgiving is over. This might not sound appropriate but I want to focus on this short time with you and to mention how much we have to be thankful for as a ministry.
Yesterday in our staff meeting, Pastor Pat brought a prayer talk. It was essentially on "Asking and Thanking" in prayer. I want to just take a thought and verse or two that we read yesterday to bring our thoughts to two very big parts of being a Pastor's Prayer Partner.
We all know how to ask and we have brought many thoughts on this. But as we continue to remember this passage in:
Romans 12:12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
As we are faithful in prayer, God will answer prayers and we will have much to be thankful for.
I just want to thank you for praying faithfully this past week for our Christmas at the Oasis. God has answered hundreds if not thousands of prayers related to our Display, "Faces of Hope”, and “Trees of Hope".
From the favor of our city government, and their fast track approvals, of our display permits to safety around the property of our first week and time of preparation. The favor shown by our local media, who have covered our display from print to TV. The communities favor of Oasis etc.
Last night hundreds from families spent the evening being loved, shown grace and honor during our "Trees of Hope" give away. We held a private party just for them, and they got to do all our events and snacks for free and then pick out a tree, have it trimmed, netted/wrapped, placed on the vehicle and given lights for it. All by our staff and incredible Volunteers! It was an amazing night. This first week God has continually been answering your prayers and blessing every part of our church’s Christmas outreach.
For all these things I am grateful and thankful. I want to ask each of us to just spend some time today and this week thanking God for all His answered prayers this past week. They are far too numerous to mention.
We are familiar with 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ;
16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances;
As we continue in Prayer let’s practice vs 18 this week. We definitely have so much to be thankful for as a church, individuals and families.
As Paul told the church in his writings, I am also "Thankful for you and your partnership in the ministry". I count it a privilege and honor to serve with you and I am humbled you pray for me and our team daily. Thank you.
