Oasis Leadership Institute

Introducing the Oasis Leadership Institute

Oasis Church is pleased to announce the launch of the Oasis Leadership Institute, and you are invited to participate in its inaugural program. In partnership with the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS), Oasis Church is offering a one year Biblical Ministry Certificate program that is designed to provide church leaders and surrounding teams with a biblical basis for ministry, as well as provide tools for properly interpreting Scripture.


Overview

The program is an 8-credit hour course accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and transferrable to eligible programs at NOBTS or other institutions willing to accept transfer credits (please check with the institution to which you are applying). Students must complete the entire program to receive credits.

The next class starts on August 7, 2017, on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 7pm-9pm. Classes are held at Oasis Church - Pembroke Pines Campus, 12201 SW 14th Street, Pembroke Pines, FL 33025. Classes will be offered on Mondays and Wednesdays for 4 weeks, typically with a one week break between classes. 

There will be an 8-week Christmas break. The program is scheduled to end on April 25th, 2018.

Who Should Apply

The program is available to church leaders, ministry leaders, and anyone, regardless of educational background, who has a desire to grow in Biblical Ministry.


Entrance Requirements

Students must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or GED. Proof of nationality must be provided. Classes are open to non-permanent residents however they are ineligible for credits. Applicants must submit a completed registration form and application form to be considered for this program.


Cost

Each course is $160 ($35 Registration fee, plus $125 tuition cost). This fee does not cover the cost of any books required. There is also a onetime application fee of $25.




General Course Outline

BIUS1110: Introduction to Old Testament Studies
This course is designed to provide a survey of the Old Testament. The study consists of a brief overview of each book including pertinent geographical and historical information in order to encourage students toward a more contextual biblical interpretation.


BIUS1150: Introduction to New Testament Studies
This course is designed to provide a survey of the New Testament. The study consists of a brief overview of each book, including pertinent geographical and historical information.
BIUS1160: Biblical Interpretation
This course is designed to provide a survey of Christian biblical interpretation with an emphasis upon sound principles of exegesis and interpretation. The study consists of an examination of hermeneutics in general, Bible translations, biblical genres, tools of study and interpretation, with an emphasis on practical application from a lay person’s perspective.


PMUS1110: Evangelism
This course is designed to provide a study of the biblical basis of evangelism, to know and understand the different church programs of evangelism, and to develop personal witnessing skills.
PMUS1117: Missions
This course is designed to introduce students to biblical and theological foundations of Christian Missions and provide an historical overview.

THUS1110: Baptist Doctrine
This course is designed to provide a survey of Christian doctrines with an emphasis upon Baptist distinctives. The study consists of an examination of revelation, God, man, the person and work of Christ, the church, the Christian life, and the Christian hope.

THUS1153: Church History
This course is designed to introduce students to the basic events in the history of the Christian Church.

THUS1154: Christian Apologetics
This course is designed to introduce students to the basic principles of Christian Apologetics.
