When I was a little boy in East Texas, visiting my grandparents, they took us over their friends house to show us there latest addition to their home.
It was an underground doomsday shelter or bunker. It had a bedroom, living quarters, refrigerator, shower, and a room stocked with all kinds of canned goods. All the essentials of living. And everything would be powered by a generator. They said they could live in their shelter for a year before they needed to come out for more provisions. They explained that we needed to be ready if the world came to an end as we know it.
I never really thought of that moment that much until now. With everything going on the world these days, it makes me wonder how close the world is, to coming to an end.
You can’t wake up in the morning without hearing about another senseless death that has taken place in the world.
Whether it is a beheading, or a bombing, or a suicide shooter, or a kidnapping leading to death or some other unfortunate demise.
So, what should be our response in the days in which we live?
I believe that Matthew 24:44 says it best:
“So you also must be ready, because the son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”
We simply just need to be ready! And to be ready is to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
And that will lead us to pray for the different countries represented at Oasis and for the needs for each one.
Would you agree with me that the world needs peace? Let’s partner together to pray for God to do a miracle in people’s lives around the world before He returns.
This is the first weekend of the month, so if you are in the list below, we can’t wait to have you come this Sunday, at 8:30 a.m. and saturate our services with prayer. Thank you also for lifting all those in our Prayer Digest.
