On May 1st, 2011 Pastor Guy Melton set out on a monumental bike ride extending 1500 miles from South Florida to New York City all in an effort to raise $100,000 for the caribbean country of Haiti. One would ask why do such a thing but, Pastor Guy asks, "Why not?"

With only a mere 700 plus miles separating us, Haiti has become a part of the heartbeat of Oasis Church all due to that question of, "Why not?" After suffering another devastating blow from the notorious 2010 earthquake that tore many areas of the country apart, Pastor Guy was compelled to act. This action would birth itself by way of a bike ride from his home church in South Florida to New York City; the distance it takes to travel from Florida to Haiti round trip. He couldn't ride his bike to Haiti to raise money so he did so symbolically.

With pledges made near and far, many of those by members of Oasis Church, on May 27, 2011 the first ever Bike For Haiti Ride was completed and a whopping $150,000 raised by July of the following year!

"Life is a journey not a sprint." - This is a phrase that Pastor Guy knows all too well and so do those of us around him. With strategic partnerships placed in Haiti, we lock arms with Pastor Guy as we attempt to raise $1,000,000 dollars for Haiti over the next 15 years. This money will be utilized in our plan to provide homes, schooling and many other securities for the orphaned children of Haiti as well as to equip their families who have suffered the most. We work face to face with our partners there and know that our efforts do not just ride on the back of one man so, every year, we have missionaries that travel to Haiti to work on the various projects and often times perform medical support services to those in need of immediate care. Every person that steps foot there is able to pour their heart out and share the hope and love of Jesus through serving people who have become more like family to us.

We've begun this journey of love and compassion for a people who so deserve it and we plan to see it through, every step of the way. We can't meet all the needs of Haiti but we believe that if there's one life that will be changed, it would all be worth it. It often only takes one person to start a movement. Join us.
